This sign makes so little sense, whilst at the same time making complete sense. Funny that.
In 2011 I went travelling for a year with one of my best friends around Australia, New Zealand and Bali. I cannot sum up into words how wonderful this experience was, how many fond memories that I have of it, and how much I learnt about myself and others. Last night, I came across a folder on my laptop FULL of all the hundreds of photographs I took whilst on my travels. These photographs are literally just sitting there, in a folder, hidden away from everyone. I’ve been back for over two years now and I really don’t know what my excuse is for not having shared some of my favourite images sooner. Not only do they represent some very personal memories which I will always treasure, but they are simply beautiful photos. I thought that since I would struggle to summarise my trip into one blog post, I would let the photos speak for themselves. That is one of the greatest joys of photography- to speak a thousand words without uttering a sound.
I hope you enjoy these special memories of Australia 🙂
I worked for several months in a pub in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE- A little place called Kilkivan that seemed like a whole world of its own.
Thumbs up from the Great Barrier Reef
We lived on this boat for a few days- it was beautiful at sunset!
One of the pinkest skies I’ve seen contrasted against a city sky line. Brisbane.
Nimbin- where you can find the hippies!
Australia really does have some of the most amazing beaches! And surf- if you are into that.
I took a little sketch pad around everywhere. Here is a brief example of some of the madness that splurged out of my mind..
More scribbles of my favourite children’s book
Sketchy sketchy sketchy!
I thought this image was ominous and oddly dramatic. And a stark contrast to the happy little camper van pictured above!
Who doesn’t love sparklers?
To infinity AND BEYOND!
Ghostly rays of light saying hello to the little old tree. How nice. Also- can you see a face in the tree.?!
Ooh I love a nice sky
It looks like this girl is simply taking in the world, with no other care filling her head. For that reason, I love this photo.
The sky to me is like a beautiful painting that the artist is continually working on.
Melbourne. I have a lot of love for this place.
Christmas on Bondi beach…in the summer!? So we made a sand man as a substitute for a snow
Living the dream
Yes- we spent A LOT of time on the beach.
I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list
