Sometimes you just need to step back from a painting for a while, and come back to it with a fresh wave of inspiration. I picked this painting back up after a few months and it added a new lease of life ☺ It’s a playful and slightly nutty exploration of my love of dogs. They make me very happy!

There is something about a beautiful tree at a riverside with the sunshine dancing though the leaves. I can’t explain how beautiful I find it. It is one of the places that makes me feel most peaceful. So I have started to paint my favourite place. This is where I am so far. What makes you feel peaceful?
Today’s doodles. I’m a bit obsessed with flowers and trees at the moment. It never ceases to amaze me how much BEAUTY and variety nature has to offer. So much stuff to be creative with 👌
This is what I’m working on right now. I’ve been commissioned to paint a wedding present to the future bride and groom. It’s always an honour to be asked to paint something meaningful for people, but there’s also the added pressure that you don’t capture their essence when painting a portrait. Sometimes it’s incredibly freeing just to paint with no idea what you’re painting. I simply put a few of my favourite colours on my palette and started to paint. I didn’t plan, I didn’t think, I didn’t judge, I just painted. I don’t really know where this is going but it’s fun waiting to find out.

A playful look at one of nature’s more gentle and endearing creatures, the humble cow! This bold and vibrant mixed media piece was inspired by a walk I took whilst exploring the countryside of the area I had recently moved to. I was absorbed in taking reference photos for my latest landscape piece of the beautiful fields I was standing in when I heard a distinct rustling next to me. As I quickly turned to find the source of the noise, I was greeted with this friendly and quizzical face staring idly at me over the top of the bushes. It made me smile, so I decided to paint her in the hope that she would make others smile too! Infused with positive energy and bright colours, this piece would make a unique and eye catching addition to any room. After a fantastic Christmas and New Year (with a cheeky ski trip to Bulgaria), I am back to the easel with a SKIP, HOP and a SPLASH of paint (preferably not on the carpet please).
